Target Information
CD13 (ANPEP) is a 150–170 kDa type II transmembrane zinc-binding ectopeptidase expressed on various cell types. It is a metalloprotease that catalyzes removal of neutral amino acids from small peptides, activating or inactivating bioactive peptides.
CD13 plays roles in extracellular matrix degradation, antigen processing, signal transduction, inflammatory responses, intercellular contact regulation, cell motility, and vascularization.
It is expressed by granulocytes, monocytes, and myeloid leukemia cells, associated with protection against apoptosis and poor prognosis in carcinomas.
CD13 also functions as an aminopeptidase enzyme and serves as an alpha receptor for coronavirus.
