Product Specific Information
This antibody is specific for Calcitonin Gene Related Peptide (CGRP).
It also recognizes rat beta-CGRP and human alpha-CGRP (10-fold less sensitivity compared to rat alpha-CGRP).
Suggested positive controls include dorsal root ganglia, pancreas, and gut.
Target Information
This gene encodes peptide hormones including calcitonin, calcitonin gene-related peptide, and katacalcin through tissue-specific alternative RNA splicing and cleavage of inactive precursor proteins.
Calcitonin regulates calcium and phosphorus metabolism, CGRP functions as a vasodilator, and katacalcin acts as a calcium-lowering peptide.
Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
