Product Specific Information

This ERO1L antibody is useful for Western blot, where a band of approximately 57 kDa is observed.
Depending on the sample type, ERO1L can also appear as a doublet, representing oxidized and reduced forms of the protein.
Suggested positive controls: 293T, INS-1, and MIN6 cell lysates.


Target Information

ERO1L (Endoplasmic Oxidoreductin-1-Like Protein)
ERO1L is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane as a peripheral membrane protein on the lumenal side. Its interaction with ERP44 is essential for ER retention and is unique in coupling oxygen reduction to de novo disulfide formation.
ERO1L is broadly expressed at low levels in various tissues, with the highest expression in the upper digestive tract, and is stimulated by hypoxia via HIF signaling.
It generally exists as a monomer but can form homodimers and interacts with PDILT. After translation, ERO1L undergoes N-glycosylation, and its redox-active center involves disulfide bonds (Cys-94/Cys-99 and Cys-394/Cys-397).
ERO1L oxidizes P4HB/PDI isomerase through direct disulfide exchange and associates with ERP44.
Functionally, it is implicated in immunoglobulin folding, oxidative stress response, unfolded protein release during Vibrio cholerae infection, and ER stress-induced CHOP-dependent apoptosis via IP3R1 activation.
