Product Specific Information
Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min.
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a lysosomal cysteine proteinase involved in bone remodeling and resorption.
It is predominantly expressed in osteoclasts and also found in human breast cancers, potentially contributing to tumor invasiveness.
Mutations cause pycnodysostosis, an autosomal recessive disease characterized by osteosclerosis and short stature.
This gene may be subject to RNA editing.
