This antibody has 89% sequence homology with equine, 85% with sheep, and 82% with porcine samples.
Suggested positive control: antigen standard for PTGDS (transient overexpression lysate), human brain protein.
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a glutathione-independent prostaglandin D synthase that catalyzes the conversion of prostaglandin H2 (PGH2) to prostaglandin D2 (PGD2).
PGD2 functions as a neuromodulator and trophic factor in the central nervous system. It is also involved in smooth muscle contraction/relaxation and inhibits platelet aggregation.
PTGDS contributes to the maintenance of various biological barriers (blood-brain, blood-retina, blood-aqueous humor, blood-testis) and may regulate non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep.
It is abundant in cerebrospinal fluid and may act as a Beta-Amyloid chaperone implicated in Alzheimer’s disease.
