Target Information
Sorbitol dehydrogenase catalyzes the interconversion of polyols and their corresponding ketoses. Together with aldose reductase, it participates in the conversion of glucose to sorbitol by ALDR1 using NADPH as a cofactor, and subsequently oxidizes sorbitol to fructose using NAD as a cofactor.
