Target Information
NUMBL plays a key role in neurogenesis. It is required during embryonic development to maintain neural progenitor cells (radial glial cells), allowing daughter cells to choose progenitor over neuronal fate.
Postnatally, it regulates SVZ neuroblast survival and ependymal wall integrity.
Acts as a negative regulator of NF-kappa-B signaling, inhibiting activation by preventing MAP3K7IP2 interaction with polyubiquitin chains of TRAF6 and RIPK1, and promoting Lys-48–linked polyubiquitination and degradation of TRAF6 in cortical neurons.
