Product Specific Information

The 4D11 monoclonal antibody reacts with Ly-49G2 (also known as LGL-1). Ly-49 family members are C-type lectin superfamily NK-cell receptors that bind MHC class I alloantigens. Ly-49G2 functions as an inhibitory receptor expressed on subsets of NK cells, NK-T cells, and memory CD8+ T cells in C57BL/6 mice.

4D11 antibody cross-reacts with Ly-49AB6, Ly-49ABALB, Ly-49T129/J inhibitory receptors, and Ly-49LCBA/J activating receptors. Expression of Ly-49A and Ly-49G2 is higher in thymic NK-T cells than in liver NK-T cells, and down-regulation of Ly-49 receptors is necessary for normal NK-T-cell development.

Target Information

Mouse Ly49 receptors exhibit allelic specificity for MHC class I Ia molecules and help prevent NK cells from attacking normal cells while enabling attack on infected or transformed cells with down-regulated MHC class I. These inhibitory receptors are also expressed on subsets of mouse CD8+ T cells.
