Product Specific Information
This H131 monoclonal antibody recognizes the human T cell receptor (TCR) Vβ13.1 allele. The TCR, composed of alpha and beta chains, determines specificity through Valpha, Jalpha, Vbeta, Dbeta, and Jbeta gene rearrangements. Vβ expression studies have explored its role in superantigen response, inflammation, autoimmune disease, and HIV infection.
Assessment of TCR Vβ expression is used to phenotype T cell clonality in CD3+/TCRαβ+ large granular lymphocyte leukemias. The receptor, a member of the Ig superfamily, is expressed on a subset of peripheral blood T cells.
Applications Reported: Suitable for flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and validated on normal human peripheral blood cells at 5 µL (1 µg)/test.
A test corresponds to staining in a final volume of 100 µL, with cell numbers ranging from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test.

T cell receptors (TCRs) enable discrimination between foreign and self-peptides presented by MHC class II molecules, crucial for adaptive immunity. Recognition of self-peptides is linked to autoimmune diseases, and mutant self-peptides are associated with tumors.
Superantigen engagement of TCRs can cause toxic shock syndrome. Autoantibodies targeting Vβ segments have been found in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), acting as compensatory mechanisms against inflammatory reactions.
Most human T cells express TCR αβ with CD4 or CD8 (single positive), while a minority are double negative (DN). Increased αβ DN T cells are associated with autoimmune and immunodeficiency disorders. γδ T cells, mainly epithelial, exhibit lower diversity and distinct antigen recognition, contributing to antitumor and immunoregulatory activity.
