Product Specific Information
- Intact IgG appears on a non-reducing gel as ~150 kDa band and upon reduction generates ~25 kDa light chain and ~50 kDa heavy chain bands.
- Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems, developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits.
- Advantages include:
- Better specificity and sensitivity
- Lot-to-lot consistency
- Animal origin-free formulations
- Broader immunoreactivity to diverse targets due to larger rabbit immune repertoire
Target Information
E-Cadherin (epithelial cadherin) is a classical cadherin from the calcium-dependent adhesion protein superfamily. It is a cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein with five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail.
Mutations in the E-cadherin gene (CDH1, chromosome 16) are associated with various cancers including gastric, breast, colorectal, thyroid, and ovarian cancer. Loss of E-cadherin function contributes to cancer progression by increasing proliferation, invasion, and metastasis.
E-cadherin is essential for maintaining tissue architecture and integrity, mediating bacterial adhesion to mammalian cells, and enabling internalization through its cytoplasmic domain.
