This antibody is predicted to react with equine, mouse, rabbit, and rat based on sequence homology.

Intact IgG appears on a non-reducing gel as a ~150 kDa band, and upon reduction generates a ~25 kDa light chain band and a ~50 kDa heavy chain.

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning the specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Target Information

Protein p21 is a tumor suppressor protein that inhibits Cyclin-dependent kinases (CDK) and is transcriptionally activated by p53.

p21 plays a critical role in the cellular response to genotoxic stress and is a major transcriptional target of p53. In the nucleus, p21 binds and inhibits Cdk1 and Cdk2, blocking the transition from G1 to S phase or G2 to mitosis after DNA damage, allowing DNA repair.

In the cytoplasm, p21 has anti-apoptotic activity by binding to and inhibiting caspase 3, as well as apoptotic kinases ASK1 and JNK. p21 exhibits dual roles in carcinogenesis, acting both as a tumor suppressor and as an oncogene depending on the context.
