Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD231 (TALLA-1, tetraspanin 7), a transmembrane glycoprotein expressed in neuronal tissue and T-ALL.
Target Information
TSPAN7 is a member of the transmembrane 4 superfamily (tetraspanin family). These proteins are cell-surface glycoproteins characterized by four hydrophobic domains and are involved in signal transduction, regulating cell development, activation, growth, and motility. TSPAN7 may play a role in neurite outgrowth and complexes with integrins. The gene is associated with X-linked mental retardation and neuropsychiatric diseases such as Huntington’s chorea, fragile X syndrome, and myotonic dystrophy.
