Target Information
STING (Stimulator of Interferon Genes) is a 379-amino-acid signaling protein that plays a key role in innate immune signaling. It activates NF-κB and IRF3 transcription pathways to induce type I interferons (IFN-α and IFN-β), establishing an antiviral state.
STING may function as a translocon influencing interferon induction and is involved in apoptotic signal transduction via association with MHC class II. It facilitates detection of intracellular viral RNA and B-form DNA, mediating death signaling through ERK pathway activation.
STING is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and mitochondrial outer membrane, and is ubiquitously expressed across most tissues.
