This antibody detects endogenous levels of the fragment of activated Caspase-1 resulting from cleavage adjacent to Asp296.
Target Information
Caspase-1 (CASP1) is a thiol protease that cleaves IL-1β between Asp and Ala, releasing the mature cytokine involved in inflammatory processes. CASP1 is essential for defense against pathogens and also cleaves and activates sterol regulatory element binding proteins (SREBPs). Additionally, CASP1 promotes apoptosis and, upon inflammasome activation during DNA virus infection (but not RNA virus challenge), controls antiviral immunity by cleaving and inactivating CGAS.
