This antibody detects endogenous levels of ASK1 only when phosphorylated at Serine 83.
Target Information
MAP3K5 (ASK1) is a serine/threonine kinase abundantly expressed in human heart and pancreas. It is activated by extracellular stimuli such as cytokines, growth factors, and environmental stresses. ASK1 (also known as MAPKKK5) activates MKK4 and MKK6, which subsequently activate JNK and p38 MAP kinases. Activation occurs through TNFR and Fas via TRAF family members and Daxx. Overexpression of ASK1 induces apoptotic cell death, while inactive ASK1 inhibits TNF-α-induced apoptosis. ASK1 is expressed in various human and mouse tissues.
