Target Information
Cadherins are a family of Ca²⁺-dependent adhesion molecules essential for cell-cell binding, structural maintenance, and morphogenesis.
Cadherin-16 (Ksp-Cadherin) is a type I membrane protein expressed specifically in the kidney, localized to the basolateral membrane of renal tubular epithelial cells.
The human Cadherin-16 gene is located on chromosome 16q21–q22, while the mouse ortholog maps to distal chromosome 8.
