Target Information
CDH12 is a type II classical cadherin from the cadherin superfamily, mediating calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion. Mature cadherins contain:
- Large N-terminal extracellular domain
- Single membrane-spanning domain
- Small, conserved C-terminal cytoplasmic domain
Type II cadherins lack the HAV recognition sequence found in type I cadherins. CDH12 is expressed specifically in the brain, suggesting a role in neuronal development, particularly during synaptogenesis.
