Description:
The 24C2.5 monoclonal antibody reacts with the intracellular tail of mouse CD79a (Ig alpha or mb-1), a signaling component of the B cell receptor (BCR). CD79a forms a heterodimer with CD79b (Ig beta, B29), and together with surface Ig, constitutes the BCR complex. Both subunits possess an extracellular Ig domain, a transmembrane domain, and an intracellular signaling domain.
CD79a is expressed almost exclusively on B cells and in most B lineage acute lymphoblastic leukemias. Its cytoplasmic domain contains ITAM motifs that mediate signal transduction. Tyrosine phosphorylation of these motifs by Syk and Lyn initiates signaling cascades leading to B cell activation, proliferation, and differentiation.

Suitable for intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested:
Tested by intracellular staining and flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes. Recommended ≤1 µg/test (in 100 µL final volume). Optimize titration for best performance.

Target Information
CD79a is a disulfide-linked heterodimer associated with CD79b (B29). It is part of the B cell antigen receptor complex, essential for B cell activation and differentiation. CD79a appears at the pre-B cell stage and remains until the plasma cell stage, where it becomes intracellular. It is expressed in most B-cell lineage leukemias, lymphomas, and some myelomas, but absent in myeloid or T cell lines.
