Target Information
The ITGA5 gene encodes the integrin alpha 5 chain, a member of the integrin alpha family. Integrins are heterodimeric membrane proteins composed of alpha and beta chains. The alpha 5 chain forms a fibronectin receptor with beta 1, mediating cell adhesion and surface signaling. The extracellular domain undergoes post-translational cleavage, generating disulfide-linked light and heavy chains.
