Target Information
EIF2α (Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2A) is a heterotrimer composed of alpha, beta, and gamma subunits. This factor mediates the binding of initiator methionyl-tRNA to the 40S ribosome in an AUG-dependent manner, forming the 43S pre-initiation complex.
Phosphorylation of EIF2α by stress-activated kinases inhibits EIF2B activity, thereby preventing guanine nucleotide exchange and regulating translation initiation under stress conditions.
