Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned and screened to select optimal candidates for production.

Target Information

Heterochromatin protein-1 (HP1) is a methyl-lysine binding protein localized at heterochromatin sites, mediating gene silencing. Mammalian methyltransferases that methylate histone H3 on lysine-9 create a binding site for HP1 proteins, which play roles in gene silencing and chromatin structure.
HP1’s chromodomain recognizes methylated histone H3 peptides, acting as a specific interaction motif for the methyl epitope on lysine-9. In Suv39h double-null mouse fibroblasts, heterochromatin association of HP1 is lost but restored upon reintroduction of catalytically active SUV39H1 HMTase.
