Target Information
Caveolin-1 (CAV1) is a scaffolding protein located within caveolar membranes. It interacts with G-protein alpha subunits to regulate their activity and participates in T-cell receptor (TCR)-mediated activation. Caveolin-1 also binds DPP4, promoting T-cell proliferation and NF-κB activation.
Mutations in the CAV1 gene are associated with congenital generalized lipodystrophy 3, pulmonary hypertension primary 3, and partial lipodystrophy with congenital cataracts and neurodegeneration syndrome.
