Target Information
Cellular retinaldehyde-binding protein (CRALBP)는 11-cis-retinal 재생 과정에서 중요한 역할을 하며, 시각 색소인 opsin과 rhodopsin의 재활용에 관여합니다.
11-cis-retinal이 rod 외절에서 광이성화되면 all-trans-retinal로 변환되고, 이후 all-trans-retinol로 전환됩니다.
이 물질은 망막 색소상피(RPE)로 확산되어 다시 11-cis-retinol 및 11-cis-retinal로 변환되며, 이 과정 모두 CRALBP에 의해 매개됩니다.
CRALBP 기능 결여는 Bothnia dystrophy, retinitis punctata albescens, retina pigmentosa, Newfoundland rod-cone dystrophy 등 시각 질환과 연관되어 있습니다.
CRALBP는 망막의 RPE 및 Müller glial cell 마커로 활용됩니다.
