Target Information
MLH1 is a DNA mismatch repair protein essential for maintaining genetic stability. Defects in mismatch repair pathways can lead to microsatellite instability (MSI), which is associated with human carcinogenesis. Mutations in mismatch repair genes, including MLH1, are linked to hereditary nonpolyposis colon cancer (HNPC). MLH1 forms a heterodimer with PMSH after MSH2 recognizes mismatched DNA, facilitating the repair process.
