Target Information

Fibronectin is a disulfide-bonded dimer with a molecular weight range of 230–250 kDa. In connective tissues and vessels, it exists as an insoluble, cross-linked polymer. It is abundant during embryonic development and tissue remodeling, and also found as a soluble plasma protein. Fibronectin mediates interactions with collagen, heparin, and cell surface receptors such as integrins. It plays key roles in cell adhesion, migration, wound healing, coagulation, host defense, and metastasis. Elevated Fibronectin expression is associated with non-small cell lung carcinoma and contributes to tumorigenicity and resistance to apoptosis. The gene has three alternatively spliced regions, potentially generating up to 20 transcript variants.
