Antibody detects endogenous levels of MEK4/MKK4 only when phosphorylated at Ser257.
Target Information
MAP2K4 (MEK4) serine/threonine kinase (mitogen-activated protein kinase 4) is a dual specificity kinase of the STE7 family that phosphorylates and activates JNK1 and JNK2 as well as p38.
MAP2K4 preferentially phosphorylates the tyrosine residue of JNKs and mediates various physiological and pathophysiological processes such as responses to cellular stress and inflammatory cytokines.
MAP2K4 is important for carcinogenesis; loss-of-function mutations have been found in lung and pancreatic tumors, while a pro-oncogenic role has also been reported.
