GenBank Accession # P01584, amino acids 117–269.
The expressed protein was N-terminal sequenced and begins with APVRSLNCTL.
Purity is >95% by SDS-PAGE analyses.
Activity: Biological activity typically <83.3 pg/mL in proliferation assays of mouse D10S cells.
Use: For in vitro applications only. Perform dose-response assays to determine optimal concentration.
Reconstitution and Dilution:
- Store lyophilized material at 4°C.
- Reconstitute in 0.5 mL distilled or deionized water.
- Dilute in a buffer containing carrier protein, aliquot, and store at or below -70°C.

Target Information
Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) is a proinflammatory cytokine expressed by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells.
It is synthesized as a 31 kDa inactive pro-form that accumulates in the cytosol.
Cleavage into the active 17 kDa form requires inflammasome activation and caspase-1 processing.
IL-1β signals through IL-1RI and IL-1RII receptors, shared with IL-1α, and its activity can be inhibited by IL-1RA.
It plays a key role in innate host defense, triggering cytokine production and acute-phase responses.
Elevated IL-1β levels are associated with chronic inflammatory conditions, and IL-1β neutralizing antibodies have potential therapeutic value.
