Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of IKK beta only when phosphorylated at Tyrosine 188.

Target Information

Phosphorylation of serine residues on the I-kappa-B proteins by IKK kinases, including IKBKB, marks them for destruction via the ubiquitination pathway, allowing activation of the NF-kappa-B complex.
IKK beta (Inhibitor of nuclear factor kappa-B kinase subunit beta) is a serine kinase essential for NF-kappa-B signaling, activated by inflammatory cytokines, bacterial or viral products, DNA damage, and other cellular stresses.
It phosphorylates inhibitors of NF-kappa-B on critical serine residues, enabling polyubiquitination and proteasomal degradation. Consequently, NF-kappa-B translocates into the nucleus to activate transcription of genes involved in immune response, growth control, and apoptosis protection.
Mutations in the IKK beta gene can result in Immunodeficiency 15 (IMD15).
