Antibody detects endogenous levels of Chk1 only when phosphorylated at Serine 345.
Target Information
CHEK1 (CHK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase involved in preventing replication when DNA integrity is compromised. CHK1 is a key mediator in the DNA damage-induced checkpoint network. It functions to ensure genomic integrity upon genotoxic stress. Inhibition of CHK1 can lead to mitotic catastrophe in p53-deficient cancer cells while normal cells remain arrested in the G1 phase. Therefore, CHK1 is an attractive therapeutic target for cancer treatment, especially since approximately 50% of all human cancers are p53-deficient.
