Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Murine RELM alpha. Anti-Murine RELM alpha-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography employing an immobilized Murine RELM alpha matrix.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Murine RELM alpha by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.5–2.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required.
This antigen affinity purified antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Biotinylated Anti-Murine RELM alpha (500-P214Bt) as a detection antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Murine RELM alpha.

Western Blot:
To detect Murine RELM alpha by Western Blot analysis, this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL.
When used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Murine RELM alpha is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

RELM alpha (Resistin-like alpha, FIZZ1) is a small cytokine (~88 amino acids, MW 9.4 kDa) predominantly produced by macrophages. Its highest expression occurs in small peritoneal, alveolar, and adipose tissue macrophages, and is strongly induced by IL-4 and IL-13.
Together with Arginase 1 and Ym-1, RELM alpha serves as a hallmark of M2 macrophage polarization (IL-4/IL-13 induced). M2c macrophages (IL-10 polarized) do not express RELM alpha or Arginase 1.
Elevated RELM alpha levels may indicate parasitic infection. Humans lack the RELM alpha gene, but human Resistin shares functional and structural similarities.
Other mouse family members include RELM beta, RELM gamma, and Resistin, each with distinct tissue distribution and functions.
RELM alpha is involved in parasite infection, mucosal inflammation, and allergic responses.
