Target Information

ErbB3 (c-erbB-3/HER-3) is a member of the type I family of growth factor receptors and binds ligands in the heregulin family.
It is overexpressed in various tumors including prostate, bladder, breast, stomach, pancreas, and colon cancers.
Heregulin and EGF stimulate tyrosine phosphorylation of c-erbB-3 to varying degrees.
The ErbB3 gene is located on chromosome 12q13 and encodes a 160/180 kDa glycoprotein.
Alternative splicing generates multiple isoforms, including a secreted form that modulates the activity of the membrane-bound receptor.
Heterodimerization with other EGF receptor family members activates pathways involved in cell proliferation and differentiation.
