Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
MettL7A belongs to the methyltransferase superfamily and is a probable methyltransferase. Methyltransferase enzymes transfer a methyl group from a donor to an acceptor, often occurring on nucleic bases in DNA or amino acids in proteins. DNA methylation is utilized to silence and regulate genes without altering the DNA sequence and is essential for normal mammalian embryonic growth. Mutations in DNA methyltransferase genes can lead to lethal phenotypes in mice and are associated with cancer development, as methylation of tumor suppressor genes promotes tumorigenesis and metastasis.
