Target Information
Glutamate receptors are the predominant excitatory neurotransmitter receptors in the mammalian brain and are activated in various normal neurophysiologic processes. These receptors are heteromeric protein complexes forming ligand-gated ion channels. The subunit encoded by this gene belongs to the AMPA-sensitive glutamate receptor family and undergoes RNA editing (AGA→GGA; R→G). Alternative splicing results in isoforms with differing signal transduction properties.
