Product Specific Information
Mouse anti-human C4bp monoclonal antibody, clone 051-198.6.3 (10-07), recognizes complement component 4 binding protein (C4bp). There are three variants of C4bp, composed of alpha and beta chains.
Target Information
Complement component 4 binding protein (C4bp) exists in three variants composed of alpha and beta chains.
- Predominant form: 570 kDa complex of 7 alpha chains and 1 beta chain
- Other forms: 530 kDa homoheptamer of alpha chains, 500 kDa complex of 6 alpha chains and 1 beta chain
C4bp regulates activation of the classical complement pathway and acts as a cofactor for C3b/C4b inactivator, facilitating proteolytic cleavage of C4b and aiding C3b degradation. It accelerates dissociation of the C4bC2a complex (C3 convertase). Both alpha and beta chains interact with anticoagulant protein S, with alpha chain binding directly to protein S. C4bp is expressed in blood serum.
