Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human IL-13. The anti-Human IL-13 antibody was purified by affinity chromatography using an immobilized Human IL-13 matrix.

Sandwich ELISA:
For detecting Human IL-13 by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.5–2.0 µg/mL is recommended. In conjunction with PeproTech Biotinylated Anti-Human IL-13 (500-P13Bt) as a detection antibody, this allows detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Human IL-13.

Western Blot:
For detecting Human IL-13 by Western Blot, use at 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. When used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Human IL-13 is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

IL-13 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced primarily by activated Th2 cells. It regulates inflammatory and immune responses by down-regulating macrophage activity and inhibiting production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines. IL-13 plays a role in allergen-induced asthma, independent of IgE and eosinophils, and regulates B cell maturation, differentiation, CD23 and MHC class II expression, and promotes IgE isotype switching. Structurally, IL-13 resembles IL-3, IL-4, IL-5, and GM-CSF. The IL-13 gene is located on chromosome 5q within a cytokine gene cluster close to IL4.
