Target Information
The jellyfish Aequorea victoria contains green fluorescent protein (GFP Tag) that emits light in bioluminescence reactions. GFP is widely used as a reporter protein for gene expression and as a protein tag in eukaryotic and prokaryotic organisms.
As a fusion tag, GFP enables localization and movement studies of proteins and analysis of subcellular compartment dynamics. GFP technology provides insights into physiological activities of living cells.
