Product Specific Information

MA5-15256-BTIN has been successfully used for Western blot, ELISA, ICC/IF, and IP applications.

Target Information

The jellyfish Aequorea victoria contains green fluorescent protein (GFP Tag) that emits light in the bioluminescence reaction. GFP is widely used as a reporter protein for gene expression in eukaryotic and prokaryotic organisms, and as a protein tag in cell culture and multicellular organisms. As a fusion tag, GFP helps localize proteins, study their movement, and analyze subcellular dynamics.
GFP is a 27 kDa monomeric protein that autocatalytically forms a fluorescent pigment. The wild-type protein absorbs blue light (395 nm) and emits green light (508 nm) without the need for additional cofactors. GFP fluorescence is stable, species-independent, and suitable for diverse applications including protein localization, interaction studies (yeast two-hybrid), and fluorescence energy transfer (FRET) experiments.
