Reconstitute in 100 µL of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
After reconstitution, keep aliquots at -20°C for higher stability, and at 4°C with an appropriate antibacterial agent.
Avoid repetitive freeze/thaw cycles. Glycerol (1:1) may be added for additional stability.

Target Information

The CNTF (Ciliary Neurotrophic Factor) protein is a polypeptide hormone primarily active in the nervous system, promoting neurotransmitter synthesis and neurite outgrowth in specific neuronal populations.
It acts as a potent survival factor for neurons and oligodendrocytes and may help reduce tissue destruction during inflammatory attacks.
Mutations in this gene can lead to CNTF deficiency, though not directly linked to neurologic disease.
A read-through transcript variant composed of ZFP91 and CNTF sequences has been identified but is considered non-coding. Similar transcriptional events have been observed in mouse.
