Target Information
SMAD1 단백질은 SMAD 계열에 속하며, Drosophila의 mothers against decapentaplegic (Mad) 및 C. elegans*의 *Sma 유전자 산물과 유사합니다.
SMAD 단백질은 신호 전달자 및 전사 조절 인자로서 다양한 신호 경로를 매개합니다.
이 단백질은 BMP (Bone Morphogenetic Protein) 신호를 매개하며, 세포 성장, 사멸, 형태형성, 발달, 면역 반응 등 다양한 생물학적 과정에 관여합니다.
BMP 리간드에 반응하여 BMP 수용체 키나아제에 의해 인산화 및 활성화되며, 인산화된 형태는 SMAD4와 복합체를 형성하여 전사 조절 기능을 수행합니다.
SMURF1, SMURF2와 같은 SMAD 특이적 E3 유비퀴틴 리가아제에 의해 표적화되어 유비퀴틴화 및 프로테아좀 매개 분해를 거칩니다.
동일 단백질을 암호화하는 대체 스플라이싱 전사 변이도 보고되었습니다.
