Target Information
Fructose-1,6-bisphosphate aldolase is a tetrameric glycolytic enzyme that catalyzes the reversible conversion of fructose-1,6-bisphosphate to glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate and dihydroxyacetone phosphate. Vertebrates have three aldolase isozymes (A, B, and C) distinguished by their electrophoretic and catalytic properties.
Aldolase B is predominantly expressed in adult liver, kidney, and intestine. Mutations in the ALDOB gene cause hereditary fructose intolerance.
