Target Information
Nuclear transport receptors of the karyopherin/importin-beta superfamily mediate various transport pathways between nucleus and cytoplasm.
Exportin-4 (XPO4) is a novel mammalian member of this family, functioning as a RanGTP-binding protein with an N-terminal RanGTP-binding motif.
It acts as a nuclear export receptor for eIF-5A and may serve as an export adapter in RNA export.
Additionally, XPO4 is involved in the nuclear export of Smad3 and regulation of Smad signaling.
