Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional round of desalting using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL (Product #89882).

Target Information

GFAP (Glial fibrillary acidic protein) is a class III intermediate filament protein predominantly expressed in astrocytes and certain astroglia of the central nervous system. It is also found in satellite cells of peripheral ganglia, non-myelinating Schwann cells, neural stem cells, and various other tissues such as lens epithelium and Kupffer cells.
GFAP antibodies serve as valuable markers for astrocytic cells and are used to distinguish astrocytes from other glial cells during development.
Mutations in the GFAP gene are associated with Alexander disease, a rare astrocytic disorder.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms.
