Target Information
Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and is essential for brain development. Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications in the ALK gene are associated with various tumors, including anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer.
Chromosomal rearrangements often produce a fusion gene involving ALK and the nucleophosmin (NPM) gene, resulting in the oncogenic NPM-ALK fusion protein. ALK encodes a receptor tyrosine kinase with a transmembrane and extracellular domain, sharing high sequence similarity with LTK. It plays a critical role in neuronal development and function.
