Target Information
Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and plays a vital role in brain development. Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications in the ALK gene are associated with various tumors, including anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer.
The most common alteration is chromosomal rearrangement, generating a fusion gene between ALK (chromosome 2) and nucleophosmin (NPM, chromosome 5). The NPM-ALK fusion product is oncogenic.
ALK is a receptor protein-tyrosine kinase with a transmembrane and extracellular domain, showing high sequence similarity to LTK. It is crucial for neuronal development and function.
