  • Suggested positive control: antigen standard for MYC (transient overexpression lysate), HL-60 cells or breast tumors, HL-60 whole cell lysate, human breast carcinoma whole cell lysate.

Target Information

The c-Myc protein is a 62 kDa transcription factor encoded by the c-Myc gene on human chromosome 8q24. It is commonly activated in various tumor cells and plays critical roles in:

  • Cellular proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and cell cycle progression
  • Phosphorylation at Thr58/Ser62 by kinases such as GSK3, CDK, ERK2, and JNK
  • Vasculogenesis and angiogenesis in tumor development

Antibodies against c-Myc epitopes recognize overexpressed proteins containing Myc epitope tags fused to either N- or C-termini of target proteins.
Amplification or translocation of the c-Myc gene is associated with multiple cancers, including lung, breast, colon carcinomas, and Burkitt’s lymphoma.
