Target Information

APLNR (Apelin Receptor) is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor family. It is related to the angiotensin receptor but functions as an apelin receptor that inhibits adenylate cyclase activity and counteracts the hypertensive effects of angiotensin II.
It plays roles in the cardiovascular and central nervous systems, glucose metabolism, embryonic and tumor angiogenesis, and also serves as a co-receptor for HIV-1. Two transcript variants resulting from alternative splicing have been identified.
