Product Specific Information

The eBioSY11B5 monoclonal antibody recognizes human CD157 (Mo5, BST-1).
CD157 is a 42–45 kDa GPI-anchored protein structurally and functionally related to CD38. It was initially identified for its expression on monocytes and macrophages and later found to be identical to BST-1, expressed on bone marrow stromal cells. CD157 acts as both an enzyme and receptor, involved in NAD⁺ metabolism and intracellular Ca²⁺ regulation. Upon ligand binding, CD157 can initiate a signal transduction cascade leading to phosphorylation of cytoplasmic proteins such as focal adhesion kinase (FAK).

Target Information

Bone marrow stromal cell antigen 1 (BST1) is a GPI-anchored molecule that promotes pre-B cell growth. Also known as ADP-ribosyl cyclase 2 and DAMP-1, BST1 expression is enhanced in bone marrow stromal cell lines from rheumatoid arthritis patients. Overexpression of BST1 may contribute to B cell abnormalities in rheumatoid arthritis.
