Target Information

TGF-beta-activated kinase 1 and MAP3K7-binding protein 1 (TAB1) regulates MAP3K7/TAK1, which mediates intracellular signaling pathways induced by TGF beta, IL-1, and WNT-1. TAB1 activates TAK1 kinase through interaction, with its C-terminal portion sufficient for activation and N-terminal portion acting as a dominant-negative inhibitor. TAB1 also interacts with MAPK14/p38α, providing an alternative activation pathway contributing to MAPK14 biological responses.
