Antibody detects endogenous levels of hnRNP D only when phosphorylated at Serine 83.


Target Information

This gene belongs to the subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). The hnRNPs are nucleic acid-binding proteins that complex with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA). These proteins are associated with pre-mRNAs in the nucleus and influence pre-mRNA processing, mRNA metabolism, and transport.
While all hnRNPs are present in the nucleus, some shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm. hnRNP proteins have distinct nucleic acid binding properties. The encoded protein has two quasi-RRM domains that bind RNAs and localizes to both the nucleus and cytoplasm. It is implicated in the regulation of mRNA stability. Alternative splicing results in four transcript variants.
