Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of HBP1 only when phosphorylated at Serine 402.
Target Information
The HMG-box protein-1 (HBP1) is a member of the HMG family of transcription factors, characterized by the high mobility group (HMG) 1 box motif that mediates DNA binding.
HBP1 binds to tumor suppressor proteins Rb and p130 to initiate cell cycle arrest, a prerequisite for terminal cell differentiation.
It also regulates tissue-specific gene expression by interacting with MyoD proteins, influencing muscle cell differentiation and phenotype development.
Terminal differentiation progression depends on reduced HBP1 activity and activation of MyoD-induced gene transcription.
